A Rho Gamma, or Rho Gam, is a member from a chapter within the Panhellenic community who is present to help PNMs through the recruitment process. They are disaffiliated from their chapter, meaning they are not actively a part of their chapter in order to be unbiased in helping the PNMs. A Rho Gam is present to answer questions, help in ranking, movement between rounds, and as a support before, during, and after the recruitment process.

The Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA), is a one-year binding agreement signed by a potential new member when ranking chapters after the final round of Preference night during the Formal Recruitment process. Prior to signing the MRABA, PNMs have several options to consider and reflect on with regard to membership options.
A PNM may choose not to complete the MRABA, thereby withdrawing from recruitment and will not receive a bid. If a PNM chooses this option, they are eligible to accept a bid for membership from any sororities participating in Continuous Open Bidding (COB). A small number of sororities may be able to recruit a limited number of people through the COB process after primary recruitment if their chapter is below Panhellenic Total (I.e. Average Chapter Size). It is NOT guaranteed that any chapters will participate in COB.
A PNM may choose to list all sororities whose preference events they attended and from whom they are willing to accept an invitation to membership (a bid). If a PNM matches with a sorority that they listed on their MRABA, regardless of whether they accept the invitation for membership or not, they are bound to that sorority for one calendar year (January 2023 - January 2024), and are not eligible participate in COB or accept a bid from another NPC chapter until the next primary recruitment period.
A PNM may choose to list select sororities whose preference events she attended, but not every preffed sorority is listed. Keep in mind, only potential new members who maximize their options and list ALL of the chapters that they attended during the Preference night are guaranteed to receive a bid for membership, although it may not be their top choice.
-
When you accept a bid, you pledge yourself to a sorority's new member process. Once you sign the MRABA after Preference night, you are ineligible to join another organization until the next primary recruitment period at Belmont. Please know that once you are initiated into a sorority, you are not able to join another NPC sorority.
-
You officially become a member of your sorority once you are initiated. The time between Bid Day and Initiation varies by chapter but typically ranges from six to eight weeks in length. Please know that once you are initiated into a sorority, you are not able to join another NPC sorority.
-
If at the conclusion of formal recruitment a PNM receives a bid to a chapter that they listed on their MRABA and later decides to declines it, they are still bound to the chapter for one year or until the next primary recruitment period, meaning they cannot participate in COB and/or accept a bid for membership to another NPC sorority.
-
No; however, in order to qualify for a 100% bid guarantee, Panhellenic requires a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above, and each sorority has a minimum GPA requirement to be eligible for membership.
-
We do NOT require recommendation letters for the recruitment process at Belmont. Though it is common practice across the country for membership in Panhellenic Association (NPC) organizations to require or encourage recommendation letters from current members in those groups, Belmont’s chapters made the intentional decision to not support this practice in an effort to be inclusive so that all students have an equal opportunity to join.
-
Yes. Freshmen will need to submit an unofficial transcript from high school, and upperclassmen will need to submit an unofficial transcript from their attended university/universities.
-
A legacy is a potential new member (PNM) who has a family member, typically a sister, mother, grandmother, or aunt, who is an alumni member of a chapter.
Legacy is not synonymous with obligation. You are encouraged to keep an open mind and consider what each chapter has to offer, regardless of which sorority you are a legacy to. Likewise, each PNM is considered individually, and you should not feel any pressure from the chapter members to join a particular sorority. Most importantly, being a legacy of a sorority does not guarantee you a bid from that sorority
-
The recruitment registration fee is $55, which covers the cost of Recruitment publications, facility usage, transportation, security, and a recruitment top. *This fee is nonrefundable
-
Sorority members pay dues each semester. Many groups use financial management companies, which offers online access and monthly payment plans. It is important to remember that sorority membership is the most expensive during the first semester due to one-time new member fees (i.e. pledging, initiation, badge or pin fee, etc.) and we suggest that you anticipate the total fees using the higher projections provided below. Please note that the semester fees vary by sorority, and should be taken into consideration before pledging a sorority.

Day One: Open House
Attire: Presentable Casual
Open House attire is presentable casual. We will give you a shirt to wear and the rest is up to you! Wear a presentable “everyday” outfit, such as nice jeans and clean sneakers, that shows off your personality. (preferably no sweatpants or leggings)
Day Two: Philanthropy Night
Attire: Business Casual
Philanthropy Night attire should be more elevated. Think of something you’d wear to an interview or professional job. For example this could be slacks, blazers, nice shoes, or a business casual dress. Even though the dress code is more structured, do your best to showcase your personality!
Day Three: Preference Night
Attire: Semi-Formal
Preference Night is the most formal round of recruitment. A nice dress, suit, or jumpsuit and nice/formal shoes would all be appropriate choices.. Please try not to wear a dress that is too short or tight. A good example might be something you may wear to a graduation ceremony or a daytime wedding. Again, showcase your personality through your style!
*Disclaimer: no part of the selection process will have anything to do with your attire. You will not be dropped or asked back based on your attire.
